Friday, Jill and Andrew came for the weekend to attend the baby shower of the next door neighbor where Andrew used to go for daycare.
Jill said Andrew hadn't been feeling very good and had a rash on his neck.
I was worried for them coming, since Doug is leaving for Fiji next week but told her to come
and I'd check him over. The rash sounded like an allergic reaction to something.
The rash was all over his body, his skin would get very flushed and then he would break out in spots. The redness would subside and then it would start all over in a new spot.
He didn't have a fever but has been on an antibiotic since last Saturday for another ear infection.
All the OTC meds say don't give to a child under 2 without physician consultation.
So it was about 9pm and we were off to CareNow Urgent Care facility in Carrollton.
The doctor walked and said right away he had hives, an allergic reaction, probably to the antibiotic (Amoxicillin) he was taking. So she said to stop that antibiotic. They gave him Decadron orally and told us to give him Zyrtec once a day and Benadryl every 6 hours until the hives were gone. Then he could restart the new antibiotic (Azithyromycin) as the ear infection was still present.
Poor little guy!
Hanging out at urgent care!
