Camping Weekend - Saturday

Saturday Morning, Jen and I were up pretty early. First because it was freezing and we had to keep moving to stay warm. Second we were in charge of breakfast on Saturday morning.  Luckily we had pre-made most things so after a round of hot coffee at Denise's campsite we were off to get breakfast ready for the troops.

Jen & I with our table setting.
We served breakfast burritos, cinnaman streusel muffins, fruit and assorted juices
 Our "FLAMING" cheese bonfire.
 Sisters Trivia discussion
A little too much sugar this early in the morning!
I'm not sure if this was before or after Denise was "mallowed" by Diane.
How good are you using chopsticks, picking up marshmallows?

In the afternoon, Jen and I took a couple of hikes around the campground.

A lonely stack of jean "backpocket" bean bags.
We never got to this game. So we will hold it for next year!

Diane & Dawn were in charge of dinner.
Grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, cooked corn/carrots

After dinner we drove to Madrid to walk the High Trestle Trail & Bridge.
The trail is famous for its 13-story and 1/2 mile long bridge over the Des Moines River,
located between Madrid and Woodward in Boone County.

At each end of the ½ mile long bridge are four 42’ tall artistic towers. The dark bands represent geologic coal veins found in area limestone deposits.
There are six overlooks on the bridge with interpretive panels that highlight the region's cultural and natural history.

41 steel “frames” over the bridge represent support cribs within an historic coal mine

Evening entertainment - Glow in the Dark night sticks and water bottles.
