Doug and I flew from Dallas/Fort Worth to Des Moines on Wednesday, Nov 23rd. It is typically a very busy travel day. Our flight was early so there was no delays.
We picked up a rental car (Chevy Sonic) and drove from Des Moines to Jefferson. We checked in to the Cobblestone Resort & Suites in Jefferson before heading over to Doug's sister, Diane's, house.
We visited with Diane, Dawn, Denise and Grandma Lyla. Dustin & Karen would arrive late in the evening.
Thanksgiving festivities were late in the day as Karl,Audrey & Aurora arrived mid afternoon from Houston and Diane went to get Nathan in Sioux City. A lovely Thanksgiving meal was prepared by all. Later that evening we enjoyed a family hymn sing.

There were many lively games played: Transition game ("Lightning round" of weather),
Jeopardy, Playdoh sculpture - blindfolded, etc.

It was also a time of sadness for me as I learned my cousin Gary Loflin had died from a brain aneurysm.
We arrived home late Saturday night to find that Jackie & Jonathan had done most of my Christmas decorating for us. Whew, what a relief!
