Leaving on a jet plane - Arriving in Tahiti

I've always loved the John Denver song "Leaving on a jet plane"
All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go!

Thursday, Sept 29th, we left on a trip of a lifetime.
Jill and Andrew picked us up at 3:20 pm and took us to the airport for our 6pm flight to Los Angeles.

We flew Delta - Premium Economy from DFW to LAX

We arrived in Los Angeles around 9:30pm and we would depart LAX around midnight for Papeete Tahiti via Air France. We also purchased the Premium Economy seats for this flight.

The premium economy seats were roomy and we had a leg rest and foot rest.  We both actually slept part of the flight.

We arrived in Papeete, Tahiti around 5:30 am on September 30th. We waited a short time for our pre-scheduled transfer (Marama Tours) to the Manava Suites & Resort.  This hotel is located very close to the port of Papeete and is also very close to the airport.
Manava Suite Resort, Tahiti offers a wide selection of 120 luxury rooms nd suites to suit every budget, including spacious garden suites and multi-bedroom duplex apartments. Each has been designed by Tahitian architect/designer Bruno Hervochon, to reflect authentic Polynesian décor, and fitted to the very highest standard to ensure your complete comfort and relaxation throughout your stay.  The four star resort includes 2 bars, one restaurant, a boutique, a fitness center & spa, and of course the infinity swimming pool facing the lagoon and nearby island of Moorea.

We had purchased two nights at this location to guarantee us an early check-in. But they could not find our reservation, as it was a Thursday night reservation and I guess they couldn't see those on Friday morning. So we waiting about 1.5 hours til a room was ready. We slept until mid afternoon. We walked to a local convenience store. We bought some bottles of water, local beer (Hinano) and French pastries. We enjoyed a snack on our lanai before taking a tour of the property.

Our view of Moorea from our lanai
We went out on the little private beach area to read and enjoy the tropical breezes.
This is the view from the beach looking back at the hotel and the infinity pool.

Doug enjoying his 1st book on vacation.
