Friday, October 23rd we welcomed my parents for a visit as well as our friends Ken/Kim Spooner and their daughter Haley. My parents will be staying through Veterans Day.
My parents arrived early in the day and the Spooner family had an eventful drive from Houston to Dallas (via Waco for Haley's college visit @ Baylor) They experienced some freaky torrential rains....where Ken decided to get off I35 to make better time.Guess he is not familiar with the Texas saying "Turn Around - Don't Drown!" If I could only post the audio/video message Kim sent me from her phone. It was priceless!! We are so happy they made it without incident and in time for dinner.
They brought us a lovely flower bouquet, bottle of wine & cupcakes for dessert.
Doug grilled steaks, make mashed potatoes and green beans. It was an awesome evening of catching up with friends until the "incident". It appears to look like a crime scene but it was a full glass of red wine spilled on the white carpet. Doug would spend the rest of the evening cleaning the carpet.
Saturday morning, we had breakfast burritos and got ready for the day ahead. We took Haley to In & Out Burger for lunch and they headed downtown Dallas for a bit while we started some dinner prep for the lasagna. The Elliotts and the Kiefers were able to join us for dinner, so the Spooners got to meet Andrew, Caleb and Jonathan.
Sunday morning, we enjoyed bacon, eggs and cinnamon rolls. We talked about taking another vacation together. Perhaps Tahiti in 2016! Guess you will all have to wait and see.
The Spooners left by 11am to drive back to Houston. They had arranged to visit Karl, Audrey and Aurora.
We told them to be sure and stop at Buccee's along the way! Guess they did!
Later in the day I was changing the sheets and washing towels and
noticed the fish on my upstairs sofa
were not where they belonged.
I texted Kim and asked her if she knew anything about this.
She sent me the above picture. Ken! I should have known.
