Family Christmas celebration

Karl and Audrey came home Thursday, December 18th.

Audrey, Jill and I went and got our nails done on Friday, December 19th.
We met Karl and my parents for lunch at Rockfish Grill.
We went home and did some prep for Andrew's birthday party the next day and also made some homemade lasagna for dinner.  Josh/Jill celebrated their 5th anniversary by going out for dinner at Jasper's so we watched Andrew.

Saturday morning, Andrew had soccer which my parents were able to attend.

They headed to our house after the soccer game for Andrew's 3rd Birthday party.
(see that blog post) After Andrew's nap he opened his Christmas presents, we made dinner.

Poppa had some play time with Andrew "Don't Spill the Beans"

After Andrew went to bed the adults opened Christmas gifts.

Mom made everyone apple butter or apple/pear jelly. Yummy!!

We also worked on two puzzles over the weekend and one on Monday.
Here is the first one we completed in one day.

Mortgage - Paid In Full

During our Christmas weekend with the kids and my parents.
We held a "Family Meeting"...more a celebration of sorts!
I gave Doug a box in the shape of a house to open.
Inside the house box, was an ornament to commemorate the fact
that our house was paid in full on December 4, 2014

Toasting with some sparkling!

Mumm Napa - Blanc de Blanc
Schramsberg - Brut Rose'

This is the ornament on the tree,
next to the ornament for our first home purchased in 1985

Andrew's 3rd Birthday - Paw Patrol party

Mimi, Mommy and Aunt Jackie had a fun time planning and implementing
Andrew's 3rd Birthday theme party "Paw Patrol"
Paw Patrol is a Nickelodean show for kids based on a 10-year-old boy named Ryder and rescue dogs in training of  Paw Patrol. Each pup is inspired by a real-world job like fire fighter, police officer, and construction worker. When trouble strikes Adventure Bay, they're there to save the day! Whether it's a cat in a tree or a train off the tracks, they always find a way to help those in need.

Crafting with Andrew

I got to spend some 1:1 time with Andrew this weekend and I decided to try some
crafting with an almost 3 year old. He did pretty well.

Andrew is coloring the brown face for the reindeer.

Andrew is sticking the pom-pom to Santa's hat.

Andrew's fingers were sticky from putting cotton balls on Santa's face. He couldn't get it off so I said hold your fingers on your chin and you can have a beard like Santa!

These are the two crafts he made for his mom and dad.

The Snowman craft is for Poppa!

A Quiet Thanksgiving

We had a quiet Thanksgiving weekend at home.  Doug had recently returned from a
business trip and was leaving again on December 1st so it didn't allow
enough travel time to attend the annual Kuklenz Christmas event.

The Kiefers invited us over for their family Thanksgiving dinner.

We brought a couple of side dishes and we enjoyed the rest of the day watching the Cowboys lose their football game.  We spent the rest of the weekend shopping and putting up the Christmas tree.

Andrew Started Soccer

Saturday, Andrew started the local PreK soccer league.

They will learn the basics of soccer.
The hardest thing for them to remember is
"DON'T PICK UP THE BALL WITH YOUR HANDS!"

Girls Weekend - Friday

Friday morning, Jill, Jackie and I departed The Colony for Houston.

We stopped in Corsicana to visit the Scrappin' Goodtime store. It is a scrapbook store and retreat.
http://www.scrappingoodtime.com/ This store had many brands and a large variety of double sided paper than we've seen anywhere. We were there on the day of the owners 13th anniversary of opening the store. It is quite a place and we will definately be stopping at this location again!

Then we were off to Applebees for lunch and then visited the Collin Street Bakery where we tried to purchase a pumpkin pie. They only had pecan, apple and fudge pie.  So PLAN B, we will pick one up with groceries in Houston.

We arrived in Houston around 2:45pm, shopped for some groceries at HEB (to surprise Audrey with our early arrival and dinner).  We got to Karl and Audreys house around 3:30pm, unloaded the truck and proceeded to start dinner.  It was a quickly prepared (mini-Thanksgiving) meal: Turkey,  potatoes/gravy; baked sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.

Karl is shown carving the turkey breast.

Friday evening we showed everything we brought for ftuture Baby Girl Kuklenz.

Jill brought her a big green tub of baby toys, bottle rack, sippy cups, changing pad and covers, boppy pillow and cover, receiving blankets, breast milk refrigeration package
 plus the musical activity center.
I got her a baby album
 Some stuffed animals
Mommy To Be 2014 - Hallmark Christmas ornament
 Some pink outfits
 A good supply of bibs
 Baby bath set

Putting the new crib bumper in place.

Karl found a good use for the boppy pillow.
He said he would use it as a neck pillow on his next flight.

Jackie brought Audrey lots of Auntie and Uncle onesies, some stroller/carseat toys.
We did not bring this outfit but it was one Audrey recently got from the neighbors.
Too cute!!

Tomorrow is Crafting Day!
